Green gingham bunting takes us back to carefree days. This fresh green and white Minerva Fabric UK fabric is a woven gingham, lightweight and also holds it’s own. Not as fluid as Liberty Lawn so this is lovely to use and excellent for new sewists. For the smaller flags, cut the pattern piece at 11cm (4.5″) height, and make in exactly the same way.

How much fabric is needed for every metre of bunting to be made?
Number of flags – 10 flags makes about for 1 metre wide on the wall, this includes about a 10cm drop of the garland.
Bias Binding – You will need 1 metre 20 cm of bias binding, this covers the extra needed for the drop of the bunting too, and hanging loops folding the ends over.
Fabric – 10 flags will need 20 fabric triangles to be cut. Fabric that is 150cm wide x 20 cm long will be enough for 20 triangles that when stitched together will make 10 flags. Cut the pieces close together to waste as little fabric as possible.
Green Gingham Bunting Fabrics
Subtle fresh green gingham fabric from Minerva Fabrics, a woven check cotton fabric. Small and large checks. The sewability of these cottons is lovely, thin yet not flimsly, easy to layer up and still go through the machine well.
Green Gingham Bunting with Bells
You see in the photos the 3mm check with the smallest 6mm and 1cm bells. The larger check would look great too, with 1.5cm and 2cm bells. Stitch the bells on after the bunting has been made. With longer threads to allow movement of the bells. The more bells are stitched together the more they will jingle.
Green Gingham Bunting with Wood Macrame Beads
Simplicity of these gorgeous natural beads, on the bottom of this bunting is fresh and cosy at the same time. Stitch the bead onto the bottom of each flag when the bunting is made. In the photo, the 9mm gingham has been used.
